He had been a member of the Committee for over a decade and was ever present on Games Day, marshalling the cars in the Cochrane Park car park which, sadly, deprived him of being able to see much of the actual Games themselves. He was also an invaluable member of the team who set up the pay boxes on the Friday evening and was also a very welcome assistant at the monthly prize bingo teas. He remained a hugely active Committee member, even latterly, when he had had to devote most of his time tending to his wife, Isa, a previous Guest of Honour, as a result of her mobility issues.
