WHO IS "ALAN" HUNTER?
The look of surprise on some of the Committee's faces when his "real" name was revealed says it all. All of us know who he is, but we all know him as Gus. Erstwhile Window Cleaner of this Parish and a resident of Brook Street, Gus was honoured at the AGM on Sunday night by being made a Life Member.
He has served the Games diligently over a long number of years, attending every Committee meeting - except when ill-health prevented this - and assisted practically with the building and taking down of the seating in all sorts of Alva weather, the erection and deconstruction of the Pay Boxes and in working from the crack of dawn in the car park. As a result of this, we do not think that he has actually seen the Games this Century, although he did manage to get to the park in time to see the spectacular finish to this year's Hill Race.
We are delighted that he accepted the award and his Certificate is attached. Don't worry though - he plans to be back on duty at the Car Park on 12th July next year. Exactly as we have come to expect of the man. Congratulations, Gus.
