The Games Committee is delighted to announce that our Guest of Honour for the 2024 Games is Alex James Colquhoun, currently Vice President of the European Showmen's Union and re-elected today as the Chairman of the Scottish Section of the Showmen's guild of Great Britain.
The connection between the Games and the Showmen can be traced back to the middle of the 19th Century and it is no exaggeration to say that the fairground is an essential, central element of what Alva Games are all about. He follows Philip Paris, former Scottish Chairman and thereafter President of the GB Guild into the role of our Guest of Honour, he having undertaken the role back in 2009.
We can not wait to welcome him to the Johnstone Park next July for what we are sure will be a very enjoyable day for all of us.
