13th Jul 2020
Saturday 10th July would have been the 164th Famous Alva Games but we all know that this was not possible. Lord-Lieutenant Johnny Stewart attended along with Games Honorary Life Chairman Ken McCaffrey, Chairman James Sharp, Treasurer John Glencross and Committee members Euan MacPherson, William Richardson and Ryan Martin to perform what we have called our Non Opening Ceremony. Special thanks to young Kyle Rees for providing the musical background and to those who came to support, all from a safe physical distance.
The Committee promised to make the 164th Games in 2021 that bit bigger and better, the Food Bank Gang were presented with their prizes for winning the annual (but this year online) Quiz and Lord-Lieutenant Johnny Stewart made a very heartfelt speech about community spirit in the town and wider county during he current crisis and then presented the Food Bank with a donation from the Games Committee.
Photographs of the day are on the Gallery page and two short videos of proceedings can be found on our Facebook page, the link to which is on the Home Page of this website.
