30th May 2022
A packed Alva Parish Church paid their respects earlier today to the legend that was Charlie Paterson, wit, raconteur, singer, entertainer and former Games Treasurer who sadly passed away at the end of April.
A heartfelt tribute was paid by Minister Jim McNeil and, fittingly for Charlie, there were a few laughs along the way.
Unknown to us, the retiring collection was for Alva Games and the magnificent sum of £570 was handed over. The Games Committee has decided to mark his memory by presenting a new Trophy for the Open 3200 metres Handicap footrace which will be known as the Charlie Paterson Memorial Trophy. May he rest in peace.
