26th Jun 2008
While there were early indications are that there may be a bumper entry in the 2008 British Championship Hill Race, expectations were exceeded on the day with a magnificent field of 66 racing up Torry in the Championship Hill Race. Both quality and quantity were maintained with the 2006/2007 winner Alastair Dunn from Kendal facing his predecessor on the podium, Stewart Whitlie of Edinburgh, who won on his debut appearance at Alva in 2005. This was a year to remember. Dunn put on a superb performance to take his hat trick of wins in 20 minutes and 22 seconds with Whitlie and another previous winner, Dan Whitehead, not far behind. Ewan McCarthy of Stirling University took the silver medal place.
