The Games Committee is delighted to announce that John (Jock) Marshall of Balquharn has accepted our invitation to be the Guest of Honour at this year's games. An Alva man and proud of it, Jock was thrilled to receive the invitation and for the honour of being asked. He will be attending the games and performing the opening ceremony with other members of the family, all of whom are steeped in the construction company which bears his name.

Games Life President Campbell Lyon said, "We have always tried to pick as our Chief Guest someone who has a long standing connection withe the town, the games or both. Jock fits both categories and his long standing - and often unseen - support of Alva Games has been invaluable to us over a long number of years. We are all really pleased that he has accepted our invitation and I just hope that he will have as enjoyable a day in the role as have all of his predecessors".
