BOFRA Presentation Dinner 2013

10th Nov 2013

Once again, Games Secretary Craig Dunbar was invited to the Annual Presentation Dinner of the British Open Fell Runners Association held for the second year running in the heart of the West Yorkshire Dales in the village of Ingleton. He was asked to present the prizes in the Senior category.

Over 170 people packed into the local Community Centre for the evening of awards, food and fun with the highlight being the awards ceremony itself - or is it the game of Roll a Pound for the bottle of whisky?? Well known BOFRA participant and Alva regular Barry Scholes took the Second Division title for the umpteenth time as well as the Vet 60 award.

Under 12 winner at Alva 2013 Thomas Marshall - grandson of Alva Games Guest of Honour Tom Sedgwick who was in attendance - was runner up in the U12 category while Katie Atkinson who won the Girls Race at Alva was the overall champion. In the Under 14s another Alva winner, Joshua Boyle, was Champion while his older brother Jacob (who also won at the Johnstone Park) took the spoils in the Under 17 competition. First U17 lady at Alva, Ellie Lambert, was also the overall Champion in this age group.

Senior Champion was Shaun Godsman in his first season in BOFRA. He did not run at Alva in the summer but has promised that he will be there for a showdown with Alastair Dunn next July. Hazel Robinson won the Senior Ladies prize with an outstanding full house of wins in the 2013 season.
