Kenny Stuart is Guest of Honour for 2018

18th Oct 2017

Hill Race record holder accepts invitation for the 162nd games.

The Games Committee is delighted to announce that the Guest of Honour for the 2018 Games is Kenny Stuart of Threlkeld in Cumbria. His name is synonymous with our signature event, the Senior Hill Race, which he won in 1981 in what was then, and remains to this day, the record time of 18 minutes and 39 seconds.

He broke the previous strangle hold on that event which was in the grip of fell running legend, Tom Sedgwick, who was himself our principal guest in 2013. Kenny claimed record after record on the fell running scene and his enthusiasm for his sport was passed on to his daughters who also put on the spikes. Indeed his daughters, Emma and Rosie, were in the prizes in their respective races when Kenny started our main race in 2006 at the 150th Games.

We are truly delighted that he has agreed to join us next year. He will be joined by his wife Pauline for what we all hope will be a memorable and enjoyable day for everyone involved.
