Once again, the office bearers of the games committee were privileged to be invited to the Annual Luncheon of the Scottish Section of the Showmen's Guild of Great Britain held on Friday 26th November in the Hilton Grosvenor in Glasgow. Games Life President, Campbell Lyon - who was made a Life Member of the Guild last November - and Games Treasurer, John Glencross and Secretary, Craig Dunbar, were in attendance along with over 100 other invited guests.
A warm invitation was extended by Section Chairman, Philip Paris who was Guest of Honour at Alva in 2009. Thought provoking speeches were made by Brian Donohoe MP and Christine McKelvie MSP as well as by Philip himself and David Wallis, Senior Vice Chairman of the national Guild. Incidentally, David has opened up at the Edinburgh Christmas Fair if you want to meet up with him there!
As always, this was a most enjoyable day and it provided a golden opportunity for friends, old and new, to exchange stories about their involvment with the Guild with whom the Games Committee us proud to have such a long standing and rewarding relationship.
