150th Alva Games Civic Week Activities Programme

Saturday 1st July

· Ceilidh in honour of the Alva Games, Cochrane Hall
Sunday 2nd July
  • Sponsored Dogathon for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Registration starts 9.30am
  • Parade through Alva to the entrance of Cochrane park. Departs Alva Industrial Park at 12:30pm

· Funday Sunday in Cochrane Park with live Scottish music and dance, battle re-enactments, falconry displays, puppet shows and street performers along with a variety of activity and craft stalls run by local charities. 1pm-5pm

Monday 3rd July

  • Opening ceremony for Exhibition & History Games by HRH The Duke of Gloucester.
Tuesday 4th July
  • Best Dressed Shop Window Competition judged.
  • Craft Exhibition taking place in the Dalmore Centre, 10am-12noon.
  • 7-a-side football Competition in Cochrane Park, running 2pm-6pm. Spectators welcome.
  • Sequence dance at the Parklands Centre, 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
Wednesday 5th July
  • Scottish Backhold Wrestling competition in Johnstone Park, 5pm-8pm. Free Entry. Competitor entries taken at the park.
  • Bingo Tea at the Parklands Centre starting at 7.30pm
Thursday 6th July
  • Exhibition & History of the Games opens in the Mill Trail Visitors Centre. Free entry.
  • Scottish Country Dance at Cochrane Hall. 7.30pm, £5 entry.
  • Saturday 8th July – Games Day
Childrens Programme 3rd-7th July, Dalmore Centre.
