Arena Conditions 2012

4th Jul 2012

We are only too well aware that the weather this year has been pretty dreadful and already there have been several cancellations of highland games meetings. We are keeping a very watchful eye on the weather forecasts as well as on the ground conditions themselves.

Regular inspections of the arena and track are being undertaken by the Clerk of the Course. The track will be inspected on a daily basis from now until Games day itself and any change in that position will be posted immediately to this site.

Ground conditions are best described as soft with several good patches on the track. All athletic and cycling events are still planned to run as scheduled. The sprint track has been realigned. The Games definitely go ahead.

The five a side football competition went ahead as planned at 5pm on Thursday 12th July but was held on the 3G surface at Alva Academy.

Arrangements are in place should the highland dancing require to move indoors. If, and only if, the dancing requires to be moved indoors the competition will be held in the Assembly Hall of Alva Academy beginning at 12 noon prompt. The decision on whether or not to move the dancing will be taken on Saturday prior to the advertised commencement time.
